2011 Welcome Message

SAHIA elected a fresh committee to plan a new path as it reassesses and realigns its strategic role to the advantage of the members who share their combined interest in information science, computer science, and health care.

One of our aims is to communicate and expand our knowledge and experience while we network with others in our fields of interest. Our bi-annual HISA conference creates such an opportunity. We would like to build on the huge success of Medinfo 2010 which was held in Cape Town in September 2010 and are therefore planning an exciting HISA2011 conference for August 2011.

We invite all our colleagues in South Africa and across the African Continent in the areas of nursing, clinical care, dentistry, pharmacy, public health and (bio)medical research to join us at HISA 2011 and celebrate our successes and learn about the rapid advances in technology and the benefits to our industry.

We look forward to welcoming you to Johannesburg in August 2011.

To all those who are planning to participate in HISA 2011

HISA 2011 will take place from the 29th – 30th August 2011 in Johannesburg at the Birchwood Conference Centre. The programme is taking shape. Given the planned start-up of National Health Insurance by March 2012, we are putting together a programme where relevant ICT challenges and solutions are discussed. We will call for papers early in 2011.

We look forward to welcoming you all to HISA 2011 and hope you will register soon.
